Well, yes, I never write, but I have something to say! Since we moved to out "temporary" apartment in South Beach, on Sept 3, I have cooked exactly two times. The rest of our meals have been either: cereal, yogurt, sandwich, from the microwave, or takeout/go out. Yes, that is terrible! It is for a variety of reasons. First, since we are moving again in the next few months, I am not unpacking much of anything. Second, there is a lot of really inexpensive, good food within walking distance, or delivery, and lastly, I just haven't been in the mood. However, I am tired of eating out, and miss my own cooking, and we want to save money to go on vacation. So, inspired by woohag I decided to get out the crock pot. I then realized that it is in NH. Soooo, we got another one for down here, and I have decided that tonight is the night! I have put Thai Chicken in, it was easy, hopefully it's yummy and will lead to future successes. I make an amazingly good curry chicken on the stove top, but i cook it for a long time, so I think that I will adapt that easily for the crock pot also. I just wonder about using the crock pot when I work 12 hours, if I can leave it on low all that time, or if that is just too long? I mean, I supposed i can make it over night while we sleep, or I can put everyhting together at night, pot it in the pot in the morning, and have Jon turn it off, but men aren't always the most reliable, ya know? Anyone have experience with that kinda thing??

Well, as today is monday, I was not expecting anything stellar to happen. I knew I would not get enough sleep last night and that getting up at 6 am would be painful, but I had no idea it would go as wrong as it has.

So, wake up, after only 3 hours of sleep, get dressed, go out to car, try to unlock, and the remote doesn't work. Lovely, another thing wrong with my car. No, wait, it's not just the remote, the entire damn car is DEAD. Yes, the battery is dead, why might you ask? because the brake lights have a way of turning on all on their own long after you have turned off the car and locked it. They will be out when you check them, and then all on their own turn on and run down the battery. Well, the first thought I had when this happened was, "at least I will get a nap in today". So, I called work, and waited for the dealership to open. 8 am i call the dealership, arrange a tow, and then at 9 after the VERY nice two truck guy comes (all you in the Miami area, if ya need one, I have a good one!) I come up and get into bed. I set my alarm for 1.5 hours so I don't sleep the day away and then am up all night, as I do have to work tomorrow.

1130 am: still have not heard from the dealership about my car.... make a series of phone calls, and find out that my service advisor, Mike, will call me right back 1145.

1240 Mike calls, says that I am top priority as the car was JUST IN last week to have all these things fixed (were not fixed right) and that "with any luck" my car should be done this afternoon.

I make some coffee and am thinking I will sit and knit. Coffee is done, i sit down and drink what is very possibly the worlds WORST cup of coffee. How did I fuck up something SO simle? The creamer isn't bad, the water isn't bad, coffee is my usual brand, uh, beavis, what's gone wrong here? Well, Coffee is serious business so down the drain it went, I am on Pot #2, and I have high hopes that this one turned out much better.... Sigh, welcome to monday!

While I am very happily married, I do love a good online dating story. And I have one that is just too good not to share!

Recently a good friend of mine stated online dating after she moved to Miami for work. She had gone on three dates with a guy she thought was pretty night. Fourth date was dinner, and then he was going right to the airport for a work trip. They had a nice dinner at an upscale restaurant, and then he walked her to the car, they kissed and then he opened the door for her and she got in her car. She rolled down the window and they kissed again, and were talking, setting up a date for when he got back. He then stood up, and started to walk away, and then turned around, came back to the car and asked her "if I change my flight can I get a blow job right now?" She was speechless. Then said no, and told him not to call her anymore and drove home in what she describes as a state of shock. Now, that was about 3 weeks ago, so this week, he emailed her an apology saying "i was out of line" but Id love to get a hand job from you... OMFG are you kidding? is this guy an idiot??? But it gets better. She did not answer his email. Today she left her office at lunch time and walked to a local lunch spot, and there he was sitting at table (he knew this was her favorite place for lunch). OMG stalker.... what a FREAK.... and this is why i am happy to be married!

Ok, so I have more to say. It starts with, my landlord is an ASSHOLE. We had issues early on in the lease, and it culminated with him telling me it would be better for him to deal with Jon, since women have no place in the business world, and me telling him that he better get used to dealing with women, because I was a woman he would have to deal with, and we could do it the easy or the hard way. Fast forward to now. Our lease is up Jan 15, we have been looking for a new apt. Today we found one. Mike, our landlord, and I had been discussing the lease renewal since I brought it up in early December. He told me initially he did not want to talk about it as he was away. I told him we would be out of town till early Jan, so we needed to talk about it sooner rather than later. He said, don't worry, we will figure it out. Well. We asked for a reduction in rent, since the Miaimi housing market it flailing, and apartments are sitting vacant for months. He said yes, and then called a few days later with a feeble offer. We knew at that point it was pointless to discuss with him and started looking. I informed him Monday we would be leaving. And told him I would give him our moving date as soon as I had it. I get this jewel of an email today:

Hello Debbie,
I regret to inform you that I need the apartment vacant on the day your lease terminates, as agreed upon. I need to put the apartment on the market as soon as possible and start showing it.I did not receive any notice from you about non renewal until today and as I am sure you know the market is very slow. Please make arrangements to have the property vacant as of 1-16-09.Thank you.

So, here are some things that make this even funnier. Our lease was to start Jan 15, 2008. His old renter did not move out till the 19th, it was cleaned on the 21st, and the building didn't let us move in until the 28th. We paid 13 days of rent when we couldn't move into the apartment, but figured we would be nice and flexible, and now he can't be? ummm, no. And how does his claim of a slow market ie i'll never be able to rent this place make sense followed by "get out so I will start not collecting money. AND let me add that I told him we would issue a check for the prorated daily rent based on our move out day! So, is he the DUMBEST man ever? or just such an ass that he would shoot himself in the foot just to prove a point?

Well, my dad is a lawyer, and has a different last name then me since I am married. I think he is almost as mad as I am. He is looking forward to calling our landlord. We are just waiting to get our new contract in place, as we found a new place only TODAY and need to sign everything.

Can i also add while 'im venting about my asshole landlord, that our rent was initially $300 higher than what we actually pay, due to some negotiations about parking spaces after we had paid the security first and last. And he thinks we are going to pay $300 more for the first and last month? What on earth has this man been smoking????!!!! Ok, i feel better now that I have vented, and I will probably not feel Ok until i see the signed contract on the new apt, but at least we found one both me and hubby would be happy living in, MIRACLE!!!
